42Maru is a company that seeks to be at the forefront of deep learning-based QA (Question Answering) search technology. In recognition of that effort, the CEO of the company, Dong-Hwan Kim, has received an excellence award at the AWS AI Startup Challenge hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

In this challenge, which was created to discover and support AI technology startups, 42Maru unveiled a knowledge QA system under development based on Korean and English content and also revealed an automatic Q&A solution applicable to both CS chatbots and enterprise knowledge management systems (KMS).

“We were able to implement a multilingual version more quickly and efficiently by utilizing AWS's AI platform and speech recognition and a synthesis module,” said Dong-Hwan Kim. “I see AWS as a partner to help us enter the global market in the future.”

91 companies participated in this AWS AI startup challenge, which was narrowed to 15 companies competing in the finals. For the final five winners, the AWS Summit Seoul 2018 event was awarded directly by AWS Vice President Swami Sivasubramanian, AWD's general manager for AI.
